A Power Rack

There are a few considerations when choosing the right power rack. The first is the spacing between the holes. This can vary from 1 to 4 inches and it is very important. If you failed on your last bench press rep, 1-2 inch holes would allow you to dump the weight if you needed to.
You will also have full range of motion without hitting the pins if they are 1-2 inches apart. With 4 inch spacing, your range of motion can be limited and it can mean that you will not be able to dump the weight if you get into trouble.

Consider the strength of the rack. Does it have bolted joints or are they welded? Does the rack need to be bolted to the floor? The strength of the pins is important. Make sure that they are over an inch thick and can handle more than 1000 pounds.

Have A Platform
You will want a platform to protect your floors and your equipment. It will also reduce the sound of weights clanging.
Building a platform isn’t difficult and you will need some sheets of plywood and a rubber top. A good size would be 8 x 8 but you can make it any size really. If you are not good at making stuff then find someone who is to make it for you.
Get Some Bumper Plates
These are rubberized weights which allow weights to be more safely dropped and will also make it less noisy. They will also help to protect your floor and your equipment. There are some options here for you to consider.
Top of the range competitive weight lifting discs will cost a small fortune. They have a higher density of rubber so that they will bounce less and they are extremely durable.
There are economy bumper plates and they tend to be thicker than the top of the range option. This means that you can be limited to how much weight you can stack on your bar.
Bands Are A Good Idea
You should definitely invest in some bands for your home gym. They are very versatile and have become extremely popular with bodybuilders. You can increase your strength levels with bands as they can provide dynamic resistances of up to 200 pounds.
Suspension Straps Will Complete Your Gym
